Since 1936, Berwald Roofing & Sheet Metal has brought quality roofing and architectural solutions to the Minneapolis area. We’re proud of our connections to the city, and we’ve been part of some high-profile projects over the years. Here are just a few of the Minneapolis landmarks we’ve worked on.

US Bank Stadium, Home of the Vikings

US Bank Stadium, Home of the Vikings - Minneapolis, MN - Berwald Roofing

Minnesota suffers from some of the most severe winter weather in the country, so when Berwald Roofing was hired as the roofing contractor on the new US Bank Stadium, we knew it was a mammoth undertaking.

We were hired to install the gray PVC roofing membrane that takes up the entire northeast side of the roof. Perhaps the most striking feature of the stadium’s roof is the perfect representation of the US Bank logo, easily visible from the air. The logo was cut from charcoal gray 60 mil PVC membrane, secured to the roof with a low-VOC adhesive, and heat-welded for a clean finish.

In February 2018, the new US Bank Stadium hosted Super Bowl LII.

MN Twins Target Field Stadium

The Minnesota Twins formerly played at the Metrodome, which also hosted the Vikings, college football and baseball games, and concerts. In 2010, the Twins moved to Target Field, baseball-specific stadium.

Berwald Roofing installed the flat roofing over the stadium’s halls, concessions, and administrative buildings and the canopy —the largest in MLB — that protects fans from the elements during games.

The Basilica of Saint Mary

The Basilica of Saint Mary - Minneapolis, MN - Berwald Roofing

During the restoration of the Basilica of Saint Mary in 1991, Berwald Roofing installed the new copper roofing over the dome of the church. The Basilica is the first Basilica built in America, in 1914, and we were able to stay true to the Beaux-Arts style of the original building.

Minneapolis Central Library

In 2006, we were privileged to work on the Minneapolis Central Library. Our roofing and architectural sheet metal work provided the library’s signature metal canopy that holds a beautiful roof garden, which contributes to the city’s clean air and gives patrons a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy in the middle of the city.

The Encore

The Encore is a stunning modern apartment building that opened in the Mill District in 2016. Berwald Roofing was the head fabricator and installer of the Alucobond® Plus aluminum composite wall panels. These panels blend together with the large glass windows to create a subtle, reflective surface that doesn’t distract from the surrounding buildings.

University of Minnesota

We have also worked on the following buildings at the University of Minnesota:

  • Science Teaching & Student Services
  • BioSciences Building
  • Gophers TCF Bank Stadium
  • Williams Arena & Sports Pavilion

We’ve provided contracting services, roofing, wall panels, and architectural sheet metal for each of these fantastic buildings on campus.
